How Peggy Lost 52 Pounds by Focusing on Consistency, Not Perfection:

December 17, 2025 by Laura Zervos | Leave a Comment

A busy mom and physical therapist shares how small, sustainable changes led to more energy, confidence, and lasting weight loss.

I’m thrilled to share the first feature in our Success Spotlight Series. Meet Peggy, a 53-year-old busy mom of three and a full-time physical therapist who spends her days traveling from home to home caring for clients.

With long hours on the road and emotionally demanding work, Peggy often relied on fast food, sweet iced tea, and skipped meal prep—not because she didn’t care, but because her schedule felt nonstop. Like many busy professionals, she was doing the best she could with the time and energy she had.

Last year, Peggy made a different decision. Instead of chasing perfection, she committed to small, consistent changes she could realistically sustain.

Over the course of 52 weeks, those changes added up to something remarkable:

  • 52 pounds lost
  • BMI reduced by 8.5 points
  • More energy, confidence, and control around food

What Made the Difference

Peggy’s success wasn’t about restriction—it was about balance and intention.

  • A balanced approach: She didn’t eliminate treats. Instead, she downsized portions—choosing a smaller drink or enjoying a few bites of dessert without guilt.
  • Protein power: She focused on adding protein, especially at breakfast and lunch, to stay fuller longer. One of her favorite strategies? Mixing cottage cheese into eggs for an easy protein boost.
  • Movement with meaning: Evenings became a chance to connect with her daughters through exercise—whether resistance training or aerobic workouts they found together online.
  • Accountability that fit her life: Peggy prioritized regular appointments, often checking in at 8 a.m. before her workday. When her schedule shifted, she used telehealth to stay consistent.
  • A mindset shift: Instead of feeling deprived, she focused on how good she felt. As Peggy puts it, “I’d rather feel good and have energy than eat a dessert.”

Peggy’s journey is a powerful reminder that lasting change doesn’t come from doing everything at once—it comes from choosing progress, one day at a time.
